هذا الكتابُ الذي بين أيدينا يمثل لونًا من ألوانِ التأليفِ عند أهل المشرق في علم رسم المصحف، ومصدرًا مهمًا من مصادر الرسم، وقد تَصَدَّى لإخراجه على ثلاث عشرة نسخة خطِّيَّة الأستاذُ الدكتور إياد سالم صالح السامرائيُّ، فَجَمَعَ مخطوطاتهِ، وٱعْتَنَى بتحقيقِ نَصِّهِ تحقيقًا علميًّا، والتعريفِ بِمُؤَلِّفِهِ، وها هو يُقَدِّمُ ثمرةَ جهودهِ في هذا العملِ العِلْمِيِّ المميز، والذي يُمْكِنُ تلخيصُ أَهَمِ ميزاتهِ في أربعة أُمُورٍ، هي: 1. التعريف بعالمٍ من علماء الدولة العثمانية، له منزلة كبيرة في علمي القراءات والرسم. 2. جَمَعَ المُؤَلِّفُ في دراسة ظواهر رسم المصحف بينَ مَنْهَجَيْنِ، الأَوَّلُ: ذِكْرُ الأُصُولِ والقواعدِ الكُلِّيَّةِ في أَبوابٍ مستقلةِ، والثاني: ذِكْرُ فَرْشِ الرسومِ بِحَسَبِ ترتيبِ السُّوَرِ في المصحفِ. 3. جَمَعَ فيه المُؤَلِّف خُلَاصَةَ رواياتِ كُتُبِ الرَّسْمِ، وبِخَاصَّةٍ المَشْرِقِيَّةَ منها التي لم تذكرْ في كتبِ الرَّسْمِ المشهورةِ. 4. ٱعْتَنَى المُؤَلِّفُ بتعليلِ كثيرٍ مِنَ الرسوم، مُسْتَنِداً في ذلك إلى أُسُسٍ لُغَوِيَّةٍ.
